Hearts on Fire's Educational Initiative was launched in partnership with Facing History and Ourselves and Microsoft's Skype in the Classroom with the goal of helping students identify their own inner fire to #BeTheSpark and make a difference in their own communities.
Inspire your students to be Global Citizens with The Hearts on Fire Teacher’s guide, written by Daniel Braunfeld of Facing History and Ourselves and Jill Iscol of the IF Hummingbird Foundation. You can use the Teacher’s Guide with your students to deepen their investigation of the lives, choices, and motivations of the Hearts on Fire Visionaries. The prompts and activities can be used for whole-group discussion, or students can choose one Visionary to write about in their journals or notebooks and then use their responses for class discussion or a jigsaw activity.
The stories of visionaries included in the Hearts on Fire book and on the Featured Visionaries page have had a lasting impact on causes for which they are passionate. But what ignited that passion? And how did the Visionaries move from passion to action? How can learning about the experiences of others help us identify our own inner fire and take steps to make a difference in our communities? Bring a Hearts on Fire guest speaker to your classroom with Skype in the Classroom (SITC) and change their perceptions about the impact one person can have on the world. With 235 countries engaged, SITC goes beyond the walls of the classroom and transports students to other parts of the globe. Book a speaker today and inspire your students to become social change rock stars!
